Belk College adds Energy concentration to MBA

Responding to the need for highly-trained leaders in Charlotte's growing energy industry, UNC Charlotte has added an Energy concentration to its nationally-ranked part-time MBA program.

A cooperative effort between the Belk College of Business and the Lee College of Engineering, the program is thought to be the first MBA in the country focused on the power industry. Students will enroll in the MBA and then take specialized courses in topics such as Energy Markets, Energy and Environmental Economics and Energy Systems Planning to earn the concentration.

Development of the Energy MBA was led by the Energy Production and Infrastructure Center (EPIC) at UNC Charlotte, a collaborative industry/education effort to produce the nation’s most qualified energy engineering workforce and partner in technology research for the global energy industry. The program is open to both business and engineering students.

"The UNC Charlotte MBA has a long tradition of being responsive to the region's evolving business needs," said Dr. Christie Amato, associate dean for graduate programs in the Belk College. "The Energy MBA capitalizes on UNC Charlotte's faculty expertise in both business and engineering, and will provide a dynamic management talent pool for energy companies."
