UNC Charlotte has added a graduate certificate program in data science and business analytics (DSBA). This collaboration between the Belk College of Business and the College of Computing and Informatics will provide post-baccalaureate students with the opportunity pursue graduate studies in this highly sought-after field.

The certificate in DSBA is open to all students who hold a B.S. or M.S. degree in any scientific, engineering or business discipline and are either currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at UNC Charlotte or completed their undergraduate degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Students will complete five graduate courses to earn the certificate, studying topics such as Big Data analytics for competitive advantage, database systems, network science and decision modeling.

The DSBA certificate is UNC Charlotte’s latest academic program related to “Big Data.” The university is building a DSBA Initiative consisting of academic and executive programs and a collaborate industry/university research consortium to respond to the needs of area employers and to establish Charlotte and UNC Charlotte as a hub for innovation in these fields. A proposal to add a new Professional Science Masters (PSM) degree program at UNC Charlotte focused on data science and business analytics is under review by UNC system officials.
